Film log/Evaluation

With regards to initial filming the majority of the time was consumed with shooting inside the college ground in and around the majority of the outbuildings to create the basis of the post apocalyptic city we had intended to design these images were then able to be refined in photo shop. Looking back i believe we should have included a diverse array of images ti grant greater depth and more levels to our simple film this would also help to provide a more original spin on said film. Furthermore this would have been aided by a greater array of angles and an in depth rateable narrative.

Final Drama

Rough Edit

The initial edit proved to be much better received than the later final version; it was far more engaging but lacked the dynamic narration we so critically desired as well as the classic quartet effect we further craved however we were pleased with the outcome of the selected imagery we had collaborated in Photoshop this gave instantly recognisable locations in order to effectively set the scene.

Two clips related to our Genre

Our film is of a film noir crossed with post nuclear war theme, so my chosen clips are from the films Sunset Boulevard (Film noir) and Fail Safe (war)

Sunset Boulevard:
Sunset Boulevard is related to our project in the sense that it is a Film Noir, giving dark atmosphere through the script and images. The key relatable feature of this partuicular film is its minor key dramatic soundtrack and dynamic narration common in most films of the Hollywood golden age, the basic orchestra concits of at least a quartet of muscians something that would not be unresonably outlandish to recreate.

Fail Safe:
Fail Safe is directly related to our project in the sense that it is black and white, about a massive nuclear world war and follows closely with direct military decisions it and its direct imapact on the residents involved it makes use of a vast majority of shots we intend to replicate ranging from wide establishing shots to intense dynamic mid shots given the film a feeling of drama . This is very closely related to our as we have black and white iconic imagery, the storyline is of a world war and the dialogue closely follows military movements and actions.

Feedback

-Include some own footage.
-Different angles to be included
-Complete the 5 minutes

Targets from Jake
1. Make the images look older, posterize?
2. Make the narration slower, Zac talks too fast
3. Give more images to the dialogue
Overall your thing is really good but it just needs improving with these few targets

Production Log week

  • Took camera shots

We've defined what we're going to do so far. We're making a 5 minute black and white film noir styled drama using photos and narration to make an alternate ending to the Cuban missile crisis. I'm working on the shooting script right now and will have everything uploaded for next time.
the next several project lessons consisted of re shooting and additional shooting of various aspects of the film in order to provide grater depth to the films content as well as the application of audio and various editing skills such as titles.
